We look forward to seeing you.

Meet The Doctor

I have a strong interest in the mind - body connection. I am a competitive athlete and learned from an early age the importance of the link between the two. I came to understand that a healthy person is a better competitor and has a greater capacity to maintain emotional well-being. Because health and wellness begin with a sound mind and body it is at the root of all of my healing approaches.

Having previously practiced in New York and California, I settled in Santa Fe because of its unique small city/big outdoors feel. In my 21 years of practicing alternative medicine, I have acquired a deep appreciation and understanding of how best to integrate the teachings of chiropractic, acupuncture, and yoga into a wellness strategy. Additionally, I have maintained a strong yoga practice and held several faculty appointments at Southwest Acupuncture College.

I received a Doctorate in Chiropractic from New York Chiropractic College and a Doctor of Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College. I also received an Advanced Practice in Chiropractic from The American Academy Of Chiropractic Physicians. To compliment my clinical work, I earned a teaching license in Kripalu style Yoga. I have a Bachelors of Science Degree in Biology from California State University, Fullerton.

When not with patients I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking with my dogs, biking and running cross-country in the mountains.

Meet The Team

Becky Donatucci, Office Manager

I am Becky Donatucci, Office Manager for Gilbert Chiropractic and Wellness. My background is in office management/insurance specialist for offices in Colorado for many years and now in New Mexico. I have been in Santa Fe for 10 years. This office has been a great fit with my experience.

I love getting out and exploring the state, photographing the area and capturing some of our history before it disappears. American history and Route 66 has always captivated me. My family were migrants to Colorado in the early 1800’s.

Testimonial:

My wife and I have been receiving therapeutic massage from Debby Lowe Cummings for over five years now. In our view, Debby is a valuable asset in the patient care provided by Dr. Gilbert's practice.

Debby has an impressive knowledge of anatomy and has, in our case, always been able to use that knowledge to effectively treat our specific complaints during a visit. She has an amazing ability to provide massage therapy at the level we have needed, not too light, not too heavy. Having experienced many massage therapists over the years, Debby is exceptional and we highly recommend her to our friends. She's great.  Gene and Tina Barnes, Santa Fe, NM

Susan Steffy, LMT #0694

Susan has been giving massage to clients in the Santa Fe area for more than 35 years and currently works with Dr. Nina Gilbert on Friday afternoons but can be available on Mondays and Wednesdays if needed.

She received a diploma from the Santa Fe School of Massage (formerly Scherer Institute) in 1976. Training has included basic Swedish massage, shiatsu, polarity therapy, trigger point therapy, deep tissue work, and yoga. Susan continues training and learning the latest techniques and has an uncanny ability to find the real source of the pain and alleviate it. Her deep tissue work is incredible!!

Testimonial:

Sue Steffy has been my massage therapist for more than decade and I don’t think I could survive very long without her. Her knowledge and skills are wide and deep and she has an uncanny ability to find kinks and sore spots I didn’t even know were there. She uses various techniques including shiatsu and deep tissue work and can be very gentle when necessary. I was blessed to discover massage therapy many years ago and have benefited from the work of many therapists – from students at training academies to tiny elderly Orientals who walked on my back and spine! – but none approach the skill and touch of Susan Steffy.  Dan Taylor, Santa Fe, NM

What Is Chiropractic?

Taking a Natural Systemic Approach to Healing

Chiropractic is a way of looking at the human body as a whole. It's based on the idea that the body is self-sustaining and self-healing.

You know that your body is controlled by your brain, but the spinal cord and vast network of nerves that carry its messages are just as important. When this system is not functioning at its peak, your body’s overall performance suffers.

In the chiropractic world, we don’t use drugs to treat our patients. While supplementation and nutrition are almost always a part of the bigger picture, drugs and prescriptions can be viewed as bandaids to treat symptoms rather than treating the source of the problem. Chiropractic treats the problem naturally and in turn prompts the body to heal itself.

While it's often perceived that the chiropractor solely treats back and neck pain, this is a small piece of what the profession is capable of handling. Chiropractors not only treat soft and hard tissue problems such as sciatica and joint pain, but are largely called on to deal with many different health issues. Some of these issues include fibromyalgia, allergies, insomnia, and headaches among many more.
